Location - TOOWONG & BURPENGARY, BRISBANE

Paul MacPhee was a National Serviceman in 1970 to 1971 serving in South Vietnam. He saw a need among his digger mates and founded the Veterans' Advocacy Service in 1990. It became Veterans' Support and Advocacy Service Inc. and a registered charity in about 1995. VSASA continues to provide essential services and support to veterans of all conflicts and serving members of the Defence Forces. VSASA is staffed by a professional and dedicated group of Veterans who provide their services on a strictly voluntary basis and they provide the veteran, ex-service, and community members with a temporary or permanent home, three good meals a day and all in a caring environment with other Veterans that have an understanding of the needs of each other at an affordable and sustainable cost. Paul and a fantastic team of volunteers run both the Drop in Centre and their Toowong offices and the Burpengary Veterans and Community Hostel, offering places for a friendly chat, a coffee or just to catch-up with old friends and mates. John Miller offers “Is it any wonder they call him the Digger’s Mate”
